The Lone Shoe
by Kiera

One lone shoe.
It's pink, not blue.
Kicked it off in the lot.
Didn't think I'd get caught.
When my mommy did see,
She said one thing to me,
"Where's your shoe AND your sock,
Could they be down the block?"
One lone shoe,
It's pink, not blue.
Of the shoe we sought,
it was still in the lot.
Lucky me!
As you may have already guessed, I lost a shoe the other day. Well, I didn't actually LOSE it, I knew exactly where it was. I believe this was more a case of "less-than-perfect parental supervision." I can't help it if my mommy didn't check when she put me in my car seat that I was missing a shoe. It wasn't until we got home and daddy said, "How come she only has one sock and shoe on?" Luckily mommy's employee found it in the parking lot at work. But, that was on Friday . . . and that meant I had to go ALL weekend (and Monday) without my favorite pink shoes! How am I supposed to practice my walking (especially outside) if I don't have any shoes?!
Well, this all lead to mommy taking me shoe shopping and I got TWO new pairs of shoes! Now, on another note of "less-than-perfect parental supervision" . . . while we were at the shoe store, mommy let me walk around in my socks while she was looking at the shoes. This gave me an opportunity to pull lots of boxes of shoes off the shelves and pull the paper and stuff out of the boxes. I was doing this at a rate faster than mommy could put the boxes and their contents back together and back on the shelves - it was super fun! Mommy finally put me back in my stroller and then noticed I was missing a sock - a brand new one! She must have looked in 10 boxes of shoes before she gave up. Some lucky kid is gonna get a new sock with a pair of shoes!
Well, that's my story . . . and I'm stickin' to it!
